Orange Bread

Hey pixels!! This recipe is a slightly adaptation from the one I saw at Andrea’s blog, Cooking with a Wallflower. Please, visit her blog: is amazing!! Thanks for the inspiration, my happy pixel!!

sliced orange bread

I know we made a healthy dessert using oranges last Winter, but I fall in love with this recipe as soon as I started reading the post. Just in case you’re asking, this is the second sweet recipe I’m making this month. At least it has fruit. A bit healthier than a chocolate mousse?

orange bread for breakfast

This bread is amazing, and makes a perfect breakfast. A slice of orange bread and a cup of coffee or tea. Wonderful. It has been a great way to start a new week. Today is 22, that means February is almost here. When did this happened? It’s scary how time flies, my happy pixels. At least we can still start the week in this amazing way: eating orange bread!! Have a good day!!

Ingredients (1 loaf):

  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 large egg, at room temperature
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • ½ cup fresh orange juice
  • ⅓ cup vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1½ teaspoons orange zest

Directions:

Preheat the oven to 185ºC. Lightly grease a silicon bread pan with olive oil or butter.

In a bowl, whisk together flour and baking soda. Set aside for now.

In a mixing bowl, mix together egg, brown sugar and granulated sugar until the sugar has completely dissolved. Next, add buttermilk, olive oil, orange juice, vanilla extract and orange zest and whisk until combined.

In two times pour the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients, mixing until combined.

Pour the batter into the prepared bread pan. Place the pan in the oven and bake for about 40-43′. Test the bread for readiness by inserting a toothpick into the center. If the toothpick comes out clean, the bread is ready.
