Hey pixels, did you know today is Sant Jordi? It’s time to buy some books and red roses!! And, what do you need when you’ve bought a book?? Yes, a pretty bookmark!! But, why buy it when we can DIY it?
So, today I’m going to show you how to make this amazing bookmarks. Don’t worry, they are really easy to make. It’s the perfect project for a boring afternoon.
- Acrylic paint (feel free to chose the colours)
- Sponges, brushes to paint
- White cardboard or watercolour paper
- Coloured cardboard (a colour that matches your acrylic paints)
- A newspaper or something to cover your work surface
- Pencil, eraser
- Glue stick
How to make it:
First, cover the table or work surface with some papers to protect it: it’s going to be a mess, trust me… I highly recommend to use an apron…
If you are not sure about the design, first you can draw a few using a pencil to see how it will result. After you decide, start using the acrylic paintings.
You can paint using a brush or a sponge. The result will be different, as you can see in the pictures (I used only the sponge to paint the landscape and both to paint the flower).
After you finished your masterpiece, let it dry for a while. It won’t take so much time.
When it’s completely dry, to give it a nice and smart touch, use your bookmark as a stencil to cut out a bigger piece of cardboard. I use red cardboard because it matches with the red flower.
Glue the bookmark to the cardboard.
Or not. It’s up to you. Look at the photos below to see the difference.
I hope you like them. They are really easy to make; you can even make this DIY with your older children.
Do you make your own bookmarks at home? This is our second DIY bookmark. Do you remember the first?
To see a couple of recommended books, just keep reading!!
First, if you prefer to read e-books, you’ll have to have one of this:
And, of course, now you’ll need some e-books to fill it. Why not one of these?
