Microwave nougat flan

Hey pixels, it’s a rainy and windy day, and it’s only 73 days until Christmas, so I’m in the mood to eat something that reminds me of my favorite holidays…. This is a cool recipe to use your nougat leftovers, because you only need a small piece of it, but also it gives your  plain vanilla flan a wonderful taste. (I use Jijona nougat, because it’s softer and incredibly sweet and tasteful.)

Ingredients (makes about 8 small units):

  • 1 vanilla flan box (contains the instant powder and the liquid caramel)
  • 1000 ml milk
  • nougat (photo above). I didn’t weight mine, it depends on how strong you want the nougat flavour

Directions:

In a bowl, mix the flan powder with half of the milk. Cook 5′ in the microwave.

While the milk is cooking, blend the nougat. Add some of the restant milk to make it easier.

Add the blended nougat and the rest of milk to the bowl and microwave for 5′ more.

Pour the caramel that comes in the box in individual molds (about 8) or in a big one.

Fill the molds. Wait until they are at room temperature, then put in the fridge for a few hours (or better overnight) before start eating.

Do you like Christmas? I know it’s too early… but if you try to make the flan or if you know a similar recipe, please let me know in the comments below. 😉
